When you write, tell us your iPhone model, iOS version and 2FA Live version (shown at the bottom of Settings in the App). Never send us your codes, passwords, setup keys or backup password.

Subscriptions

Restore Premium on a new device or after reinstalling
  1. Make sure you are signed in with the Apple ID you used to subscribe.
  2. In 2FA Live, open Settings and tap Restore Purchases.
Cancel or change your plan

Open iOS Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose 2FA Live. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge. You keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for.

Ask for a refund

Apple handles all payments, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Moving to a new iPhone

Bring your codes and passwords with you
  1. On your old iPhone, open Settings in 2FA Live and turn on iCloud Sync. Make sure iCloud Keychain is on in iOS Settings.
  2. On the new iPhone, sign in with the same Apple ID, install 2FA Live and turn on iCloud Sync.
  3. Wait a few minutes for iCloud Keychain to bring over the encryption key. If the App says some items could not be decrypted, try again later.

You can also export an encrypted backup from Settings, then restore it on the new iPhone with the same password.

Passkeys do not move

Passkeys created in 2FA Live stay in the Secure Enclave of the iPhone that made them. Before you switch, add a new passkey or another sign-in method on each website that uses one.

An account shows "Secret missing"

The account's details arrived but its secret did not. Turn on iCloud Sync on a device that still has the secret, or restore from a backup. If you have neither, set up two-factor again on that website using its recovery options.

Adding accounts

Turn on two-step verification for a website
  1. Sign in to the website and open its security or account settings.
  2. Look for "Two-step verification", "Two-factor authentication" or "2FA", and choose "Authenticator app" (sometimes called "Security app" or "TOTP").
  3. In 2FA Live, tap + and scan the QR code the website shows. Type the code from 2FA Live back into the website to finish.
  4. Save the backup or recovery codes the website gives you somewhere other than your phone.
Services that cannot be added

Some services use their own sign-in check instead of authenticator app codes, so they cannot be added to 2FA Live. These include Apple Account (codes go to your Apple devices), Steam (Steam Guard in the Steam app), WhatsApp (a PIN you set in WhatsApp) and Telegram (an extra password you set in Telegram).

Using the App

Turn on AutoFill
  1. Open iOS Settings, then General, then AutoFill & Passwords.
  2. Turn on 2FA Live.
  3. In Safari or an app, tap a sign-in field and choose 2FA Live from the keyboard bar, or tap the key icon.

Filling verification codes needs iOS 18 or later.

Add a widget
  1. Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen, then tap Edit and Add Widget.
  2. Search for 2FA Live, pick a size and tap Add Widget.
  3. Touch and hold the widget and tap Edit Widget to choose which accounts it shows.

If you lock the App with Face ID or a PIN, Home Screen widgets hide the codes for privacy. Tap a widget to open the App and see them.

A code is not accepted
  1. Check that your iPhone's date and time are set automatically, in iOS Settings, then General, then Date & Time. Time-based codes depend on an accurate clock.
  2. Wait for a fresh code and enter it before the ring runs out.
  3. Compare the app with the live code on our test page. If they match, the app is working and the website needs attention.
  4. If it still fails, the website may have reset two-factor. Set the account up again from its security settings.
Forgot your PIN

If Face ID or Touch ID is turned on, use it to unlock the App. We cannot reset or recover a PIN, because it never leaves your device.

Move accounts from Google Authenticator or Authy

2FA Live does not import from other authenticator apps yet. For each account, open its security settings on the website, set up a new authenticator app and scan the QR code with 2FA Live. Keep the old app until you have checked each new code works.
